Yelp a Treasure Trove for Mobile Marketers
Yelp, one of the Web’s most popular destinations for online reviews of local businesses, recently released some powerful data for would-be mobile marketers. Based on activity in December 2010, the company recently announced that 35 percent of all searches on Yelp.com originated from mobile applications. Yelp’s mobile apps generated calls to local businesses every two seconds during December, and a photo was uploaded from a Yelp mobile app every 30 seconds.
In lieu of an engraved invitation to start building a mobile presence, local business owners that remain unconvinced of the platform’s marketing value can expect similar statistics to be announced throughout 2011.
