YouTube Mobile & Editing Tools Released

Posted on 6.17.2007
Friday evening YouTube rolled out an on-site editing service dubbed YouTube Remixer. Powered by Adobe Premiere Express, the software allows YouTubers to remix their existing videos and add new music, borders, clip art graphics, and transitions.

While not for the uber-professional video uploader, Remixer will be useful for the increasing number of users uploading videos from their mobile phones.

Speaking of mobile phones, YouTube launched a mobile interface available at m.youtube.com. To use it, you need a mobile phone that plays streaming videos (RTSP/3GP with H263/AMR) and an unlimited data plan because apparently it's a "data intensive application".

Only a small part of YouTube's videos are available in the mobile version and that includes short videos that were recently uploaded or popular. There are also three special categories: people, entertainment and "grab bag" and a search box that lets you find videos.
