A Payment Button That Could Change the Web

Being able to accept credit and debit cards is an essential element to the success of digitally minded enterprises and it is getting simpler each and every day.

Automattic (parent company of WordPress), for example, recently announced the launch of a "Simple Payment" button that will allow users of its hosted service to accept PayPal payments.

While limited to users on paid Premium and Business accounts and costing $8.25 and $24.92 per month respectively, the feature/functionality does bring professional class payment processing to a potentially enormous new audience (perhaps even those using Stripe or Braintree).

This announcement closely follows another recent announcement that introduced those on paid Business plans to use third-party plugins and themes, making it somewhat of a competitor to a range of solution providers already offering hosted WordPress installations (such as GoDaddy or Dreamhost).
