Accenture, a management consulting firm, has announced the release of its new report that details consumer fatigue with username and passwords.

While the report, titled "Digital Trust in the IoT Era", cites a variety of unique and interesting findings, one of the most notable is that 77 percent of respondents are interested in using alternatives to protect their security on the 'Net. Interestingly, those most receptive to alternative security features include respondents from China (92 percent) as well as India (84 percent).

Other countries with respondents willing to try alternative security features include Brazil, Mexico and Sweden with 78 percent of respondents wilting try alternative measures as well as 74 percent of respondents from the United States.

"As hackers use more-sophisticated and less-obvious methods, passwords are no longer seen as the definitive answers to the security question," said Robin Murdoch, managing director of Accenture's Internet and Social business segment. "Traditional one-step passwords are now being matched with alternative methods using biometric technologies such as fingerprint recognition and two-step device verification. Within the next few years we are likely to see many more consumers embracing these and other alternative methods."
