In business, it's not always about who you know but also how much they can count on you.
Barry Clark has joined Smarter Remarketer, a provider of customer intelligence and marketing automation for multi-channel retailers, as the company's executive vice president of sales and marketing. Most recently, Clark served as group vice president/global retail sales for Oracle where he led a team of more than 300 sales and sales support professionals as well as industry consultants. This experience, combined with CEO Howard Bates's previous experience with Clark, made him the perfect hire.

This isn't Smarter Remarketer's only big recent hire, as just two months ago it introduced Dean Abbott as chief data scientist for the company. Abbott brings more than 25 years of experience in data mining and advanced predictive analytics.
These two hires come on the heels of Smarter Remarketer's $7 million in venture financing in a round led by Battery Ventures. Battery's digital marketing technology portfolio includes companies such as ExactTarget (acquired: Salesforce), Marketo (IPO), Bazaarvoice (IPO), Neolane (acquired: Adobe), BlueKai and Sprinklr, among others.
