According to Freelancer.com Chief Executive Matt Barrie, "2015 is promising to be a truly historic year for Freelancer.com, now with 15 million users and more than 7.4 million projects posted on Freelancer.com, worth over US $2.2 billion."

Interestingly, 74 percent of Freelancer.com's user base is from the Millennial generation. What's more, India, the United States, Pakistan, Indonesia, the Philippines, UK, Bangladesh, Brazil, Australia, and Canada are the top 10 countries on the platform.

Among other interesting facts about Freelancer's multimillion-figure user base is that 25 percent are self-employed business owners, 21 percent identify themselves as freelance professionals, 19 percent as students and 22 percent as full-time employees.

The majority of Freelancer.com's users (68 percent) have joined the marketplace to make extra money, 25 percent say there are using Freelancer to start a new full-time business and 19 percent to start a business part time.
