Whether you're getting ready to write a new blog post or doing some market research for a new product, check out BackType to see what people are talking about. It's pretty simple - just enter your term or keyphrase in the search box and click "Search." What you get back is a flurry of real-time results from blogs, social networks and other social media about your topic.

BackType originated as a blog comment search engine, but the new iteration offers a much more robust look at what's being said right now. There's even a Twitter sidebar that shows real-time tweets containing your keyword or phrase. If you wait a bit, simply enter your search again and you'll get updated results. BackType is working on a scrolling real-time results index, as well as trending topics. Timeliness is important - BackType can help.
