Facebook Unveils Reactions

Rumors about a Facebook dislike button have swirled around the 'Net for about a month now, but those rumors are finally being laid to rest.

This is because Facebook's Chief Product Officer Chris Cox has unveiled the social network is not rolling out a dislike button, but instead is testing a new feature called "Reactions" that essentially act as a more expressive Like button. The feature will enable users to use emojis to express their feelings, or reactions, about a post. The feature includes emojis for users to express the reaction of like, love, laughter (haha), yay, wow, sad and angry on a post.

"We studied which comments and reactions are most commonly and universally expressed across Facebook, then worked to design an experience around them that was elegant and fun," Cox said in his announcement.

It is important to note, however, that not all Facebook users will be able to start expressing their reactions just yet, as the social network is currently only testing the feature in Ireland and Spain. That said, Facebook plans on using the feedback from the feature's test run to improve it and roll it out to everyone soon.
