Pinterest Guides the Way

Pinterest is making it easier for users to discover new content, as the pin-boarding social network has introduced a new "Guided Search" feature for mobile devices.

According to Pinterest, Guided Search will help users explore the more than 750 million boards and 30 billion pins on its network. The feature uses visuals to guide consumers through the content discovery process. For example, if a user searches for something like plant, the feature will offer up visual guides for categories like indoor, shade or garden, which essentially enables the user to filter the search.

"The guides are there to get you where you want to go, but the best part is leaving a little room for serendipity," the Pinterest blog states. "Exploring getaway ideas might lead you to a treehouse adventure, a motorcycle trip down the coast, or maybe even something else you didn't know you were looking for. You might be surprised where you end up!"

Currently, Guided Search is rolling out on mobile devices, but Pinterest notes that the feature will expand to the Web soon.
