The Future is Native at Twitter

Twitter has not had the best history with third-party developers but it is increasingly opening up its platform and that could change some minds.

The company announced a beta test that will enable developers to display MoPub ads directly within Twitter kit timelines in Android and iOS apps. What that means is that with just a few lines of code, developers can display a dynamic timeline of Tweets that include advertising that can be monetized. It's a big step forward for Twitter.

Twitter is only allowing tweets with ads to be seen in Android and iOS apps that utilize Twitter Kit for embedded timelines. That means third-party apps using Twitter as their social feed (the official NBA app is a good example) can monetize those streams. Twitter has taken care to make sure the ads appear native and subtle. According to its announcement, ads will be rendered, themed and match the color preferences developers set in Twitter Kit.
