A/B Test Push Notifications for Mobile Apps

Written by Pete Prestipino | Nov 5, 2014 6:00:00 AM

Mobile developers whose apps use push notifications know that the practice is effective at sparking engagement, but what content and timing generates the best response?

Parse has just added a new feature to its platform that will enable developers to create A/B tests for push notifications. The new Parse Push Experiments will provide an opportunity to gather data and see what's working when it comes to push notifications and what's not.

The A/B tests can be set up through Parse's push Web console. Developers can group users into a test group and each group can be sent a different push notification. Once the test is set up, Parse shows which version resulted in more push opens in real time, along with metrics such as statistical confidence interval.
