**A new version of [Hack](https://sourcefoundry.org/hack/), an open source typeface designed for use in source code, has been [released](https://github.com/chrissimpkins/Hack#about) and it should make reading code easier for designers and developers when in smaller sizes.**

The new version offers new type features, changes in weights, spacing, and glyphs and it's sweet spot, according to programmer Chris Simpkins, is in the 8px-12px range on modern desktop and laptop monitors (but is still legible at 6 or 7px sizes when being used on an HD monitor).

Hack has been released as a free and open source project that is free to modify, use commercially, and download for print, desktop, or Web use.
