Mark Zuckerberg shared some data that shows exactly why Facebook is often called the world's largest social network.

At the company's quarterly earnings announcement, Zuckerberg revealed the Facebook community now has more than 1.55 billion people, including more than 1 billion people who are active every day. What's more, more than 925 million Facebook users leverage the social network's Groups feature, while more than 8 billion video views take place on the social network each day and more than 45 million small- and medium-sized businesses have a Page presence.

It is also important to note that people are flocking to Facebook's other services as well. In fact, 900 million people are on WhatsApp, 700 million leverage Messenger and 400 million people are on Instagram each month.

Zuckerberg also noted Facebook's other accomplishments as of late. For example, more than 15 million people now have access to the opportunities of the Internet thanks to the company's Internet.org initiative. Plus, Facebook recently announced the first aircraft to beam down Internet service, a satellite launch to deliver connectivity, an artificial intelligence (AI) digital assistant and the company's first Oculus virtual reality consumer release.
