How Shoppers Define a Good Deal

The official start to the holiday season is less than one month away and retailers are hard at work perfecting their strategies to maximize their revenue-earning potential, which includes analyzing how consumers perceive a promotion.

SheerID surveyed 500 U.S. shoppers, who have made purchases online, to look at their habits, likes and dislikes, as well as holiday spending plans. One of the most interesting insights from the survey centers around how shoppers define a good deal. Thirty-five percent of those surveyed want a discount of 30 percent to feel they are getting a good deal, while 26 percent need a discount of 40 percent or more. The majority (63 percent) of shoppers, however, can agree that, "it is important or very important that the products they buy are discounted."
