Whether it's due to the creation of new network or just updated features, the  GlobalWebIndex (GWI) has released its latest quarterly report detailing the social network trends for Q3 2014. The report saw participation from 41,823 adults between the ages of 16 and 64.

Among the many findings was that Tumblr and Instagram have the youngest user bases with more than 70 percent of their users being 16-34 years old. On the other hand, Facebook has the oldest user base with 25 percent of its active users being 45 years or older. Tumblr also claimed the top spot on the list of the fastest growing social platforms in 2014 with its user base increasing by 120 percent.

One of the more interesting findings from the report was user's feelings toward Facebook. The report states that 50 percent of the social networks members in the U.S. and U.K. are growing tired with it and as a result are using it less frequently than they used to (this number rose to 64 percent among teens). Also, the report found that Facebook is the only social network that saw a decline (0.5 percent) in active usage among 16-24 year olds during 2014
