There are a variety of difficulties when breaking into a new market like, for example, knowing the trends and likes of its consumers.

To help companies understand a market's consumers Snaptrends, a location-based social media intelligence platform, has announced a partnership with Esri, a provider of geographic information system software, to integrate their platforms into a single package.

Through the integration Esri ArcGis Online users will be able to access interactive Esri maps from within the Snaptrends platform. On their own, Snaptrends and Esri provide users with a wealth of capabilities like being able to search through social media for user names and keywords as well as creating and sharing interactive Web maps, respectively. Together, users will be able to leverage the social information provided to them by Snaptrends and bring that information into Esri's location-based maps and see area specific trends and likes.

"Data mined from social media and inputted into these interactive maps can include photos, videos, tweets, and so much more," said Jeff Croson, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Snaptrends. "Our users will now have a new and powerful means to manage and display the vital information that they have gathered."
