Snapchat Updates Chat with Audio, Video
Snapchat has made some major updates to its ephemeral messaging app.
The biggest update is what the company is calling Chat 2.0, which is a total overhaul of the app’s Chat feature. With the update, users can start audio and video chats, as well as send audio and video messages to friends that are unavailable to talk. What’s more, Snapchat unveiled “stickers” as a new visual tool to help users communicate.
“What we love most about the new Chat is how easily you can transition between all these ways of communicating — just like you do in person. When that’s possible, you aren’t texting, calling, or video chatting… you’re just talking,” Snapchat said in its blog announcement.
In addition to new Chat features, Snapchat unveiled Auto-Advance Stories. This feature automatically begins the next story after a user finishes watching one. That said, users also have the option to swipe to skip ahead or pull down to exit the Story altogether.
