Untappd, a mobile app that helps beer fans (3 million of them at last count) keep a database of what they drink and find out what's on tap at most bars, has just announced a "strategic merger" with another alcohol startup, in Next Glass.
Next Glass also has an app that keeps track of what users have been drinking, and manages ratings. Where the app differentiates, and the value it brings to Untappd and its community, is in its ability to recommend something else to try.
According to the official statement from the Untappd founders little if anything will change for users, other than receiving new updates, features and badges faster.
