Periscope, one of the main players in live video broadcasting, is shedding light on just how popular the content type is, revealing that in just one year there has been more than 200 million broadcasts on the Periscope platform.

The Twitter-owned company marked its one-year anniversary by unveiling some user statistics to show just how popular live video is. In addition to more than 200 million broadcasts, Periscope also notes that more than 110 years of live video are watched every day on iOS and Android. For reference, the time watched metric is defined as the aggregate amount of time that people spend watching live broadcasts on both iOS and Android, but does not include time spent watching broadcasts within Twitter, on the Web or replays.

These numbers are a pretty big increase from August, when Periscope revealed that 40 years of video were being watched each day. Since Periscope's launch last year, live video broadcasts have become increasingly popular, with Facebook even adding the functionality to its site at the end of 2015.
