Automattic, the folks behind platform WordPress, just announced a new import tool that will make it easy to import their content from the struggling digital publishing startup Medium.
Medium has actually long provided its publishers an opportunity to export both posts and drafts (as a .ZIP archive) which can then be imported into WordPress. Automattic/WordPress went into some detail into how the import process works.
Medium has been looking for a formal business model and it looks to be turning to digital advertising to do so. If you're not interested in having the platform monetize your content and not give you a fair share, the import tools looks to be a terrific solution.
